According dealer documents obtained Consumer Reports, BMW has instructed dealers stop delivery 1 Series models built between January and May 2010 due a fire risk.
The documents cites insufficient clearance between B-pillar seat belt tensioners, which, in event crash, could result in friction, leading overheating potential fire.
In addition the aforementioned 2010 models, certain 2008-2011 1 Series coupes could affected by the issue. Owners can contact BMW at 1-800-525-7417 for more details and see their vehicle falls under the recall.
