Rumors have surfaced that next-generation Mazda MX-5 could tip scales at 2,200 pounds boast an impressive 50 miles per gallon without losing lick horsepower in process. The Japanese magazine reports that 2012 Miata will receive rotary mill displacement 1.2 or 1.3 liters, helping roadster drop few pounds process. However, Wankel has proven anything fuel efficient, so achieve lofty fuel economy numbers rumored rotary would hybrid variety. That sounds bit far fetched, Wankel/hybrid marriage has already been consummated form Fiat 500 prototype created by FEV. The little Fiat contains rotary that acts as generator Lithium-Ion battery pack.
While it’s an intriguing idea, our money small, efficient four-pot turbocharging. After all, one most attractive qualities Miata it’s diminutive price tag, and hybrids tend add lot cost – not mention weight – bottom line.
