Once upon time, crate engines choice independent sportscar-makers came Detroit. But just as German manufacturers have raised mantle muscle car such super-sedans as Mercedes ᬳ AMG, Audi R̈́ BMW ̇, so have the Germans become the new source niche automakers. But don′t take our word it: just look examples like the Mercedes-powered Pagani Zonda, BMW-driven Wiesmann GT, not mention the Veritas RSIII and the Audi-engined Gumpert Apollo.
The latest join their ranks? Joss Developments Limited, creators of eponymous Australian supercar. According to reports Down Under, Joss has inked deal with Mercedes-Benz to supply AMG power to the mid-engined exotic. Local off-road specialist Albins will providing the transaxle. The news the Mercedes contract apparently replaces the in-house 6.8-liter V8 that was originally part the plans, and follows reports that Mercedes itself was considering plans to enter the Australian V8 Supercars touring car series.
