Report: Serial drunk driver hits judge who let him off 11 years earlier

Back in 1998, Rene Fernandez received two DUIs in span three months. The first judge sentenced him probation, second judge, Edwin Collier, sentenced him 60 days in jail suspended sentence. Last August, now 45-year-old Fernandez was inebriated at more than twice legal limit, got into his Chevrolet Tahoe started driving, ultimately plowing into Honda Accord in oncoming lane.

That Accord was driven 85-year-old retired Judge Edwin Collier, who had his wife, 81-year-old Ellen Collier the passenger seat. Yes, it was an accident involving the same Fernandez the same Judge Collier 1998. Fernandez now looking at an 18-month stint Montgomery County, Maryland prison the DUI the life-threatening injuries he caused to the Colliers.
